About I Ain't Fluent

I Ain't Fluent is a free resource that answers the real questions learners ask: how to actually say something, when to use it, and why the textbook version sounds odd out loud. We cover greetings, everyday phrases, slang, idioms, and honest app comparisons, in language you can use the same day.

Why we made it

Most language content optimizes for looking productive, points, streaks, badges, not for the moment you have to open your mouth in front of a real person. We think that's backwards. Speaking is a skill you build by speaking, with feedback, out loud. Everything here is written to get you closer to that.

Who's behind it. I Ain't Fluent is made by the team behind SPAIKING, an AI speaking coach that listens to your pronunciation and corrects you in real time. Both are products of Four Cents. This site is free and independent of whether you ever try the app.

How we write

Our phrase and pronunciation guides are checked for natural, everyday usage rather than literal translation, and reviewed against how native speakers actually talk. More on our process and sources is on the editorial standards page.
